Dance Educators of America Competition  2011
 
Pauline Baker Rodgers School of Dance won the overall highest score of the dance competition in Pittsburgh March 26 at the Dance Educators of America regional competition. The dance that took the top award was “All I want For Christmas Is You ” also receiving a platinum and first place award in the production category. Cynthia Ake Rabold was the costume and prop designer for the dance, and it was choreographed by Miss Pauline’s granddaughter, Rachel Monahan. PBR took 19 dances to the competition, winning 6 platinum awards and 13 gold awards. Another platinum winning dance called “Walk The Dinosaur” also took first place in the junior jazz category. It was choreographed by Ashley Hand. The other platinum dances were: a solo by PBR competition team’s only senior, Brittany McClure; a teen tap called “Giddy On Up” choreographed by April Everhart, also Miss Pauline’s granddaughter; a senior lyrical called ”Lean On Me,” choreography by Rachel and April; and a junior tap called “Cats and Dogs” by LeAnne Steiner. Some special awards were given by the judges: “Shake Your Tail Feather“, a small fry jazz, won the “Dimple Darlings” award. Ian Schmoke, last year’s runner-up for Mr Teen DEA, won the “Electric Current” award, and a ballet scholarship for the national DEA competition in Las Vegas this summer.
 
Dance Masters of America  Competition 2011
The PBR Competition Team did it again at the regional Dance Masters of America Competition held at Seven Springs April 20 -23.  PBR  received the overall entertainment award and a platinum for the production, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”  Good Job Team–We are So Proud!
